The team of the Regional Development Agency of Odesa Region as part of the Economic Mission of Ukraine visited the Eastern Netherlands

The team of the Regional Development Agency of Odesa Region as part of the Economic Mission of Ukraine visited the Eastern Netherlands. The mission was headed by the Deputy Minister of Economy of Ukraine, Ms. Nadiya Bihun.

The delegation was joined by representatives of the Odesa-based companies Agroholding “Danube Agro” and LogicPower. Ferry complex Orlivka LTD was also represented.

The Swiss-Ukrainian Project UCORD “Cohesion and Regional Development of Ukraine”, which aims to promote coordinated actions for the restoration and coordinated regional development in Ukraine, was a partner of the mission.

During the visit, the Agency solemnly signed a memorandum with the Development Agency of the Eastern Netherlands (Oost NL). This lays the foundation for further cooperation that will allow us to better integrate the European model of the Agency’s activities, establish effective bridges of contacts between businesses of both countries and, in the long run, establish new interregional and twin-city relations.

The overarching context of all the meetings in the province of Overijssel was the presentation of the Triple helix model, which is the basis for regional policy in the Netherlands, namely, sustainable cooperation between government, business and science, which gives a systemic effect for the development of innovations, the introduction of advanced technologies and support for young professionals in the region.

During three working days, the Agency’s team, together with other participants from Vinnytsia, Sumy and Khmelnytskyi regions, visited a number of Dutch enterprises, including those located in the Hessenpoort Industrial Park. It is located in the capital of the province of Overijssel, Zwolle.

The park covers an area of almost 300 hectares and specializes in the implementation of technological solutions, renewable energy, and logistics.

The basis for the success of this project is cooperation based on the triple helix model. This format allows us to achieve maximum results through participation and shared responsibility. In addition, the Zwolle seaport operates on the territory of the industrial park, which also implements green projects, such as the production of hydrogen fuel and its further use on ships and other transport.

During the Dutch-Ukrainian business event, the economic potential of the Odesa region was presented, which remains extremely interesting for foreign partners. We were able to familiarize the Dutch with the region’s communities and the production potential of the region’s companies.

Given the importance of expanding international contacts, during a meeting with Mr. Jamie Van Essen, Economic and International Relations Advisor of the Municipality of Deventer, we initiated the issue of establishing a twinning between the Dutch city of Deventer and the city of Reni and submitted a request from the city executive committee.

As a result of the visit, we have many new ideas and developments. We saw full support for Ukraine and interest in joint projects and assistance at all levels.

We thank the Kingdom of the Netherlands for their support and the organizers (Oost NL) for their warm welcome and high level of preparation!
