Culture That Brings People Together: The Agency Supported the “Art of Inner Form” Project
The Regional Development Agency of Odesa Region supports initiatives that, through culture, the arts, and intercultural dialogue, strengthen social cohesion within communities, open up new opportunities for the creative industries, and shape a modern image of the Odesa region as an open European region.
Project Presentation
On July 24, the Agency hosted the presentation and opening of Maya Makeeva’s (Maya Makeeva) titled “The Art of Inner Form”—an artistic initiative that combines cultural heritage, contemporary design, and a profound exploration of human identity.
The project explores the interconnection between clothing, cultural memory, and the inner world of the individual. The designer caftans, handcrafted from natural materials, are not only fashion pieces but also standalone art objects in which Eastern traditions are given a contemporary artistic interpretation within a Ukrainian context.

The event was opened by Serhiy Kononenko, Director of the Regional Development Agency of Odesa Region, who emphasized the importance of supporting cultural initiatives as a key component of regional development and the strengthening of intercultural dialogue.
Today, the Agency works not only on attracting investment, community development, international partnerships, and business support. “One of our key areas of focus is promoting the development of creative industries, cultural diplomacy, and projects that strengthen social cohesion and foster a positive international image of the Odesa region,” said Serhiy Kononenko.
For a region where dozens of nationalities, languages, and cultures have coexisted for centuries, such initiatives are of particular importance. They not only help preserve cultural heritage but also create a space for mutual understanding, open dialogue, and the formation of a shared vision for the future.

Partnerships and Participants
The event brought together representatives of government agencies, the diplomatic corps, national cultural societies, civil society organizations, educational institutions, the business community, and the creative sector, reaffirming that it is precisely the partnership between different sectors that creates new opportunities for the region’s development.

Culture as an Investment in the Region’s Future
For the Regional Development Agency of Odesa Region, supporting such initiatives is an investment in human capital, cultural diplomacy, and the region’s future. After all, a strong economy is built not only through investments or infrastructure projects. It is also based on trust, mutual respect, openness, and society’s ability to preserve and reinterpret its own cultural heritage.
Today, culture is becoming the language that unites people regardless of their background, and the multi-ethnic Odesa region is once again demonstrating that diversity is its strength, competitive advantage, and the foundation of sustainable development.
