“The Women’s Movement Lives in Each of Us”: Odesa hosts the jubilee V Regional Women’s Conference dedicated to the 140th anniversary of the women’s movement in Ukraine
This important event brought together leaders and activists who shape the future of our country. Separate discussions were devoted to gender issues, women’s economic independence, leadership opportunities and achievements in modern society.
Olena Ivanova, Head of the Agency’s Community Relations Office, drew attention to the new challenges women face in the war and the role they have to assume in society in this difficult time.
One of the important outcomes of the conference was the signing of an appeal to the President of Ukraine, the Cabinet of Ministers and the Government Commissioner for Gender Policy with an initiative to establish an official state holiday – the Day of Women’s Movement of Ukraine, which is proposed to be celebrated on December 8. This will be a symbol of recognition and support for the role of women in our society.
Together, we are moving towards a future where women’s rights and opportunities are reliably protected.
