International cooperation for regional development

On November 18-22, Serhii Kononenko, Director of the Regional Development Agency of Odesa Region, took part in a study visit to Northeastern Romania as part of the Swiss-Ukrainian project “Ukraine Cohesion and Regional Development” (UCORD).

The purpose of the visit was to familiarize themselves with European practices in the field of regional development and to integrate Ukrainian regions into international cooperation.

On the first day, the delegation met with representatives of the Romanian Ministry of Development, Public Works and Administration, as well as the Ministry of European Investment and Projects.

Key topics of discussion:

  • Cohesion policy to support less developed regions
  • Successful examples of regional development in Romania
  • Interreg Next Romania-Ukraine program and new opportunities of the European Neighborhood Instrument for communities

This visit is an important step in exploring new mechanisms of regional development that can be implemented in Odesa Oblast. The results of the study visit will contribute to the development of more effective regional development strategies and strengthen international cooperation.

We thank the organizers of the UCORD project and the Swiss partners for supporting Ukraine on its way to integrating European practices!
