COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT STRATEGIES

Recently, Olena Ivanova, Head of the Office for Work with Territorial Communities at the Regional Development Agency of Odesa Region, an expert on recovery and strategic planning, and Oleh Babiy, PhD in Economics, Associate Professor, Head of the Research and Consulting Department at Odesa National Economic University, held a strategic meeting with representatives of the Chornomorsk Village Council, which has begun active work on its own Community Development Strategy.

The development of community development strategies is not only a tool for effective management, but also a legal requirement. This obligation is enshrined in a number of legal acts of Ukraine. In addition, taking into account regional strategies and changes in the State Regional Development Strategy (SRDS) is not just a recommendation, but a necessity that allows communities to use resources efficiently, attract funding, adapt to challenges, and work in synergy with government priorities. This is the way to create successful, economically sustainable and comfortable living conditions for residents.

The meeting discussed further steps of joint work and priority areas for the development of the Black Sea community, namely

  • Economic development of the community – attracting investments, implementing grant programs, creating new jobs;
  • Entrepreneurship development – support for small and medium-sized businesses, implementation of programs to support young entrepreneurs;
  • Infrastructure modernization – renewal of transport networks, construction and reconstruction of social facilities;
  • Preservation and development of human capital – educational initiatives, trainings for the community, involvement of young people in the management and development of the territory;
  • Improving the standard of living of residents through the implementation of social programs, improvement of medical and cultural services.

The Community Development Strategy is a roadmap that defines how and where to move to ensure sustainable development of the territory, improve the quality of life of residents and maximize the use of available resources.
