Successful case: how the Agency supports the development of Bessarabia’s craft business
The craft business is not only about delicious products, but also about preserving traditions, developing communities and strengthening the local economy. Sergey Rusev from the city of Bolgrad has been producing meat delicacies under the Balkanski Yastia brand for over 10 years. His products are a taste of real Bessarabia: authentic Bulgarian and Balkan recipes, natural meat of local breeds, locally grown spices and unique cooking technology.
What challenges does the craft business face?
Serhii, like many other local producers, is striving to expand the market, improve product quality and make production more energy efficient. But this requires new facilities and equipment.
How did the Agency help?
The team of the Regional Development Agency of Odesa Region does not just promote business development – we look for real support mechanisms. We helped Serhiy prepare and submit a grant application for the “Own Business” program, which will allow him to get new equipment, improve product quality, expand the range and make prices more affordable. And we are pleased to announce that the State Employment Center has approved a microgrant for this project!
Why is it important?
Craft business in Odesa region is not just developing – it is becoming an integral part of the region’s economy.
It is:
- Preservation of cultural heritage
- New jobs
- Attracting tourists
- Support for local producers and farmers
We believe that supporting small businesses is the path to economic sustainability and community development, even in difficult conditions. If you have an idea or business that needs support, the Regional Development Agency of Odesa Region is ready to help!
