Strengthening international cooperation in the field of urban security and competence development

On February 11, an online meeting was held with the team of the Regional Development Agency of Odesa Region, EFUS network, and representatives of the Odesa Regional State Administration. The event brought together partners from the French regions, as well as representatives from Belgium, Germany and Spain, which emphasizes the high level of international interest in cooperation with Ukrainian regions.

The meeting discussed the principles and priorities of the SafeSkills program, outlining its key achievements and strategic objectives. The program is aimed at developing security competencies, strengthening interregional cooperation and forming modern approaches to managing security challenges at the local level.

The representative of Catalonia presented the institutional model of the region’s security system, human resources and specialized competencies. The representative of Saxony suggested that the participating regions prepare structured information on the implemented solutions in the field of urban security, followed by a professional discussion and exchange of practices.

The issue of potential cooperation within the framework of the Proposal for Innovative Action tool on the European tenders and funding portal was raised. The possibility of participation of regions or individual cities in the relevant grant mechanism is currently being clarified.

For the Agency, participation in such platforms means the formation of practical partnerships that open access to innovative financing instruments, modern security practices and the integration of Odesa region into European cooperation networks. We systematically work to ensure that international initiatives are transformed into specific projects and solutions for the Odesa region.
