A successful case of small business development in Odesa region

The development of local entrepreneurship is an opportunity to create jobs, develop communities, and open up new prospects for the region’s residents. One of these cases is the story of Svitlana Kruk, an entrepreneur from the village of Bessarabske, who, with the support of the Regional Development Agency Odesa Region, received a grant for “Own Business” and implemented her idea – a cafe-workshop for children “Bessarabian Delicacies”.

Lyudmyla Popova, consultant of the Agency’s grant office:

“Six months ago, we started this journey together with Svitlana. She had a great idea to create a place where children could develop their creativity by learning to bake traditional sweets. The agency accompanied her at every stage – from consultations to developing a business plan and preparing for an interview. And in February, the official opening took place!

The main guests – children – have already attended the first gingerbread painting workshop. Thanks to a grant of UAH 250,000, the premises were equipped and the necessary equipment and raw materials were purchased. In addition, two new workplaces were created for teachers and cooks.”

What does this mean for the region?

The cafe-workshop is not only a business, but also a center of creative development for the children of the community. This is another proof that small businesses can change people’s lives and develop the local economy.
