Strategic session in Odesa: development of communities in the Southern region and plans for the future!

On December 27, Odesa hosted the fifth strategic meeting on regional strategic planning for the Southern regions of Ukraine. The event was chaired by Oleksiy Ryabikin, Deputy Minister of Communities and Territories Development of Ukraine.

The main focus was on challenges and opportunities for Odesa, Mykolaiv and Kherson regions. The discussion was attended by representatives of regional military administrations, local governments, the Regional Development Agency, strategic planning experts, and representatives of the Ministry of Communities and Territories Development of Ukraine.

For Odesa region, the key areas were identified as follows:

  • development of transport and logistics infrastructure,
  • modernization of the port industry,
  • support for the agricultural sector,
  • ensuring energy sustainability.
  • creation of the Odesa agglomeration.

Particular attention is paid to working with internally displaced persons, modernizing social infrastructure, implementing barrier-free solutions, and supporting social cohesion.

All the development plans presented are aimed at taking into account the needs of the people and the potential of the region, even in the difficult conditions of war.

After the strategic meeting, Mr. Ryabikin visited the Regional Development Agency of Odesa Region to get acquainted with the activities of our team, key projects, and ambitious plans for 2025.

During the visit, we discussed

  • integration of regional initiatives into the national recovery strategy;
  • the importance of partnership with international organizations;
  • implementation of projects to support communities in war-affected areas;
  • participation of the Agency in strategic planning of regional and local government development.

Mr. Oleksiy personally familiarized himself with the Agency’s work and talked to the team. Particular attention was paid to finding solutions to improve communication, institutional support, and empowerment of the Agency in the future.

We are grateful for the openness to dialogue, which will help to strengthen our joint activities for the development and reconstruction of the Odesa Oblast.
