Rebuild Ukraine 2024: new partnerships and key projects
The team of the Regional Development Agency of Odesa Region continued its active work on the second day of the international conference Rebuild Ukraine 2024 in Warsaw. The event included meetings with representatives of business and international financial institutions (IFIs) from France, Sweden, Norway, the Netherlands, Lithuania, Canada, Belgium, and Italy to establish contacts and discuss prospects for cooperation.
One of the key moments of the event was the presentation of strategic projects of the Odesa region at the Swedish national pavilion. Head of the Agency’s Investment Office Tetiana Uzhviy paid special attention to initiatives in the areas of water supply, sewage, renewable energy, and social infrastructure development, which are critical for the region. Some of these projects already have their first successful cases, which will be made public in the near future. An important role in the presentation and networking was also played by representatives of the communities of Odesa Oblast – Tairovska, Podilska, and Dachnenska – who demonstrated a proactive approach and openness to cooperation.
As part of the event, a meeting was held with Mr. Erwin Hoogland, Deputy Chairman for Economics, Europe, Cross-Border Cooperation and Defense of the Province of Overijssel (Netherlands), the provincial administration team and our partners, the Regional Development Agency of the Eastern Netherlands (Oost NL), with whom a memorandum of cooperation was signed in April this year. We discussed opportunities for cooperation in strengthening business activity between the regions, attracting Dutch experience for the implementation of critical projects in the Odesa region in the field of water supply and water treatment. They also agreed to consider the possibility of organizing a summer vacation for Odesa children, including military children and IDPs, in the Netherlands next year.
Particular attention was paid to the issue of the project for recycling waste caused by the destruction, for which a memorandum of understanding was signed with Norwegian partners. They discussed the participation of the Odesa community in a pilot project for the recycling of construction materials, which will be a significant step towards the environmental restoration of Ukraine.
There is a lot of work ahead to translate these ideas into concrete projects that will contribute to the development of the region.
The agency receives institutional support from the Swiss-Ukrainian project UCORD, implemented with the support of Switzerland through the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation and NIRAS Sweden AB.
