Odesa Region Recovery Forum: Regional Development. Spatial planning

On 28 September, Odesa hosted the Odesa Region Recovery Forum “Regional Development. Spatial planning.”

The fourth event in southern Ukraine on the recovery and post-war development of the Odesa region.

The Forum was organised by the Regional Development Agency of Odesa Region, the Ministry of Communities, Territories and Infrastructure Development of Ukraine, the Odesa Regional State Administration and the Odesa Oblast Council. The event was supported by the USAID GOVERLA Project, which is actively involved in the recovery and reconstruction of the Odesa region.
The event presented the developments to the Odesa Oblast Recovery and Development Strategy. Analytics and interim conclusions show that thanks to the multi-donor team of experts, we are moving very quickly and confidently.

The Forum has become an important initiative aimed at promoting sustainable development in Odesa region through effective spatial planning and community involvement in strategic decisions.
Odesa region, like any other region, should focus on spatial planning, as it will help the region create a transparent and flexible development strategy that takes into account the needs and requirements of modern society.

For effective work in this area, the USAID GOVERLA Project experts are ready to join the process of creating an Analytical Portal of the region, a platform that will contain information on the investment attractiveness of the region, its public service network, and useful information for donors, managers, the scientific and expert community.

The main markers of a well-built approach to spatial and strategic planning of territorial development will be

  • sustainability of development;
  • optimisation of resources;
  • economic development and empowerment

The Odesa Region Recovery Forum “Regional Development. Spatial Planning.” brought together experts, scientists, representatives of state and local authorities, ambassadors and consuls, and public activists to discuss topics related to the growth of the Odesa region.
