The event was organized as part of efforts to support the development of creative industries, cultural diplomacy, and the preservation of cultural heritage as key components of the Odesa region’s sustainable development. Cultural development, support for creative industries, and the formation of a modern Ukrainian cultural identity are identified as priorities in the Odesa Region Development Strategy for 2021–2027 and align with the goals of Ukraine’s Cultural Development Strategy through 2030, which aim to preserve cultural heritage, promote Ukrainian culture, strengthen intercultural dialogue, and integrate culture into regional development and post-war recovery processes.
“The Art of Inner Form” is an original project dedicated to exploring national identity through contemporary design, art, and a reinterpretation of Eastern culture. The central image of the project is the caftan—not merely as a piece of clothing, but as a symbol of inner strength, freedom, individuality, and a person’s connection to their cultural roots.
The event program includes a presentation of the project’s concept, during which Maya Makeyeva will discuss the history of its creation, the brand’s philosophy, the exploration of cultural codes, and their contemporary artistic reinterpretation. There will also be a guided tour of the exhibition led by the artist, featuring a collection of unique designer caftans—artistic objects that blend tradition and modernity, craftsmanship, and the artist’s vision.
